It has been commonplace for analogue watches to be set to 10:10 or more often 1:40 so that the hands are pleasingly symmetrical and mostly frame the logo. I think this is just a carry over from that. The figures you use mention probably create that arrangement more accurately, though of course completely unnecessarily!
I share that thought, but wonder if is the flagger who needs the comment more than the admins. Like the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Harrison Ford just shoots the man with the big sword, I find just down voting or flagging feels like an act of boredom.
The Raiders reference made me laugh. That was way too accurate.
The sheer volume may be part of the problem too. With that much low-quality content around, you end up thinking, "Am I really supposed to stop and work out exactly what's wrong with every single one?" Still, I do think some visible feedback would be nice.
Scratch uses blocks that represent programming methodologies, like a block for loops or a block for sound. Those blocks snap together and you have a sound on a loop.
Code for Real uses blocks of real HTML, CSS, and Javascript. You set IDs and Classes on each block and can assign styling to them. The same way you would build an actual website or app. The challenge that kids run into (and adults) when trying to program is understanding how the blocks fit together, how they fit together, and what attributes apply to each element. The tutorials walk them through step-by-step how to create a working application explaining what each piece means. It can still be a lot for some students, but there are tutorials of varying complexity, so hopefully it will be beneficial for everyone.
